Ruby is a beautiful silky black female cat.  We first rescued her mom and littermates when she was only a few weeks old from a local kill shelter.

Ruby was adopted from us last Christmas Eve 2008 along with her brother Jade (read more about him under "Jade").  The sad fact is that Ruby ad Jade  were adopted by a couple who wanted to surprise their children for Christmas with kittens from Santa.  Well, after about 8 months of having them in their home, the family decided they no longer wanted these gorgeous cats.  A phone call from the adopter reported that they were big, not as cute anymore and required brushing.  That's all?  Anyway, the family abandoned these cats at a local kill shelter and it took several days to locate them.  Fortunately, we did, and now their lives have been spared for a  second time!  It is a good thing that cats are supposed to have 9 Lives!

Ruby and Jade have been living in a foster home with lots going on.  They are very sweet and laid back cats.  They get along with other cats, kids and cat friendly dogs.  Ruby probably weighing in at about 10 pounds and she is a big girl, but she is big boned and not overweight.  It is not necessary that these two cats  be adopted together as they will do fine either way.
